BEAUDIMENT Julien
La Bohème Fantasy - Paraphrase on Mazeppa
World-renowned french flautist, principal flute of the Opéra National de Lyon and professor at the CNSM de Lyon, Julien Beaudiment is one of the most important figures of RLF Stars. Since his discovery of the Fantasy on Tosca, which he particularly appreciates, Julien Beaudiment maintains a close collaboration with Laëtitia and Jean-Christophe.
While working on the production of his next album, he contacted Laëtitia and entrusted Jean-Christophe with the task of writing instrumental variations on Mozart tunes. Julien Beaudiment also commissions a fantasy on Mozart's Magic Flute for flute and harp, an instrument for which Jean-Christophe has never written before. Enthused by this request, Jean-Christophe accepts and also produces a version for flute and piano of this fantasy.

Associated with the 3rd edition of the Rentrée Littéraire du Flûtiste, Julien Beaudiment wrote the preface to the Paraphrase sur Mazeppa of which he is the dedicatee.
On December 9, 2023, on the occasion of the Flautissimo festival organized by the Accademia Italiana del Flauto in Roma, Julien Beaudiment performed the "Fantasy on La Bohème", a first in Puccini's country.
The same "Fantaisie sur la Bohème" is also chosen by Julien Beaudiment and the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon to appear in the admission program for the 2024 entrance exam into the 1st Higher Cycle.
At the 7th International Flute Convention (Puteaux, France 2025), Julien joined Laëtitia Brault, Hélène Boulègue, and Bertrand Giraud to musically illustrate Jean-Christophe Maltot's lecture on Opera Fantasies. He performed his Paraphrase on Mazeppa, which he had premiered ten months earlier at a concert in Walter Hall at the University of Toronto (Canada), as well as excerpts from the Paraphrase on Iolanta.
However, the collaboration between the two men didn't end there. Ambitious and creative, they embarked on a new challenge: to create, for the first time, a complete arrangement of the Second Suite from Daphnis and Chloe for flute and piano. With the arrangement completed, Julien decided to record it on his album "Ravel" produced in collaboration with pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid and released on October 30, 2025. The world premiere is scheduled for Sunday, February 15, at the Salle Cortot (Paris, France)!
